The Schaller Eco Home is a near net zero energy house built in Connecticut in 2009/2010. The award winning house recently won second place in the Connecticut Zero Energy Challenge, a design/build competition sponsored by the CT Energy Efficiency Fund and Northeast Utilities. The cost-efficient house features passive solar design, photovoltaic panels, solar thermal panels for domestic hot water and radiant heat, salvaged and sustainable building materials, and received a HERS score of 4.
