Following 10 weeks of collaboration with VTech, Savannah College of Art and Design industrial design students Ishmael Adams, Jesse Bizzoco, and Austin Brown were offered positions with the Hong-based company. VTech is a leader in cordless telephones and electronic learning products.
Adams accepted a full-time position in the industrial design department of VTech’s telecommunication products business in Hong Kong. Juniors Bizzoco and Brown were offered six-month paid internships that are expected to begin in the fall.
VTech had charged the 16 visiting SCAD students with designing fresh concepts to keep the consumer-focused company at the forefront of the telecommunications industry. The students spent several weeks in intense preparation followed by two weeks abroad, where they conducted ethnographics research specifically addressing the convergence of Eastern and Western cultures. The students also toured other design studios in Hong Kong and factory sites in China.
