{sdcover, align=left} A new survey by DesignIntelligence and The Greenway Group quantifies the sustainability efforts of leading U.S. architecture and design firms.
The “2008 Sustainable Design Survey,” which gauges the opinions of principals in best-in-class firms, indicates that most are happy with their organizations’ progress toward green and sustainable design. In fact, the majority consider themselves leaders in that arena.
Among the survey findings:
- More than 60 percent of firms classify the majority of their firm’s work as environmentally responsible.
- More than 70 percent of firms have an in-house continuing education program to teach employees about sustainable design.
- More than 80 percent of respondents have changed their personal habits to reduce their carbon footprint.
The DesignIntelligence “2008 Sustainable Design Survey” appears in the July/August 2008 issue. It can be purchased in the DI.net bookstore.
