Methodology

The following criteria were used to score world-class programs:

Category 1

Results of the 2010 DesignIntelligence landscape architecture rankings by professional practices.

Category 2

Historical results of the six years of Design­Intelligence landscape architecture rankings by professional practices.

Category 3

Results of DesignIntelligence landscape architecture deans and chairs surveys from 2008, 2009, and 2010, which solicits opinions about respected programs as well as outstanding educators and education leaders.

Category 4

Independent analysis and opinion by DesignIntelligence editors and Greenway Group analysts of overall campus environment for learning, technology resources, opportunities for integrated learning, skills assessment, and regional preference derived from surveys.

Category 5

DesignIntelligence considers Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board accreditation to be a minimum standard for world-class status. LAAB analysis provides for a single standard for both undergraduate and graduate programs, so a standard score was used for each program.
